Congratulations!
You found a FREE 12" vinyl copy of
the march afternoons aren't real
If you were shopping for records and found it while browsing the racks ...
... then today was your lucky day! we hope you like your new record, and if you do we hope you'll share it with your other music-loving friends. It is, of course, available online as well (you know where to look) so it might be easier to share it that way than actually lending the record to your friends. But we encourage that too :)
And if for some reason you don't like what you hear, be sure to pass it on as a gift to someone who you think might, OK?
Also, don't forget to keep going back to spend your money at the shop where you found our record - independent record stores are precious and endangered and really important to DIY music culture, so they need you to keep spending your money there!
If you work at the shop where we left this gift for one of your customers ...
... we know it was cheeky and we hope you don't mind too much! We love independent record shops and we'd love to have proper distribution and a big enough fan-base to make it worthwhile asking you to stock our little record. But the tough reality is that with short-run self-releases on vinyl there's almost no headroom on costs to make any profit from sale-or-return in shops, and without an advertising budget nobody's going out shopping to buy our record from you anyway. So we thought it'd be nice for your customers to get a surprise and come away with something free - they'll feel good about shopping with you and someone will get to hear our record who wouldn't have otherwise. Win-win, right?
At the very least, if someone's tried to walk out with our record and you've stopped them, it's definitely not shoplifting so don't call the cops, OK?
And if the spirit of this whole endeavour has pissed you off rather than endearing us to you then feel free to take the record, add it to your stock and put a price sticker on it. Then it'll be our gift to you instead of your customer and you might make a few quid out of this in the end. And then hopefully there'll be no hard feelings :)
